Lord Humongous [1984]
In 1984, wrestling manager Jimmy Hart introduced a new challenger to Jerry “The King” Lawler. The masked man was enormous, perhaps the first man to come along to actually strike fear into the long-time champion. His name was Lord Humongous, and though he didn’t defeat Lawler for the gold, he remained a force in Memphis wrestling for years.
Actually, to this day, Lord Humongous continues to wrestle in the territory, although it’s not the same guy as it was when he initially debuted. Originally, the character was portrayed by Mike Stark, who is currently a coach for the University Of Miami football team. Lord Humongous was later portrayed by several superstars over the years, including a fresh Sid Eudy, who is widely known today as Psycho Sid, and in the 90’s by Barry Buchanan, who came to be known as Bull Buchanan (or, for about 15 minutes in 2003, B-Squared).
