Val Venis
In 1998, the WWF’s Attitude Era was in its strongest form, with superstars becoming edgier than ever. Cursing, foul gestures, in-your-face gimmicks and innuendo were a huge part of the company’s presentation. After WrestleMania 14, vignettes started to air featuring a new athlete who was coming to the WWF. The star was marketed as being a former porn star, even shown in scenes with real-life porn actress Jenna Jameson.
On May 18th, 1998, Val Venis made his WWF debut. Venis came down to the ring in a terry-cloth towel to the beat of porn-soundtrack-esque music, with his titantron video showing things being drilled and explosions. Venis would take the mic before each match, greeting the crowd with “Hello, ladies!” He would then compare himself to something, using a sexual innuendo. The one I remember best is…
"You know something, ladies? The Big Valbowski is a lot like… a Rubix cube. The more you play with it, the harder it gets!"
